Description
Newton Child Development Center is seeking a dependable part-time cook to prepare simple, nutritious breakfast and lunch for children ages infant through 5 years old. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking, can follow food safety guidelines, and wants a consistent weekday, daytime schedule.
Pay & Schedule
- Starting pay: $12.00/hour (depending on experience)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- No evenings or weekends
- Location: Newton Child Development Center, 1301 Grove St., Chattanooga, TN 37402
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare breakfast and lunch according to approved menus and recipes
- Follow portion sizes and USDA nutrition program guidelines
- Safely operate standard kitchen equipment
- Maintain strict food safety, sanitation, and health department standards
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, cookware, and utensils
- Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and inspection-ready at all times
- Order food and kitchen supplies as needed
- Assist with other kitchen-related duties as assigned by the Site Director
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older
- Previous food preparation or cooking experience preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to work independently and follow established procedures
- Dependable with reliable transportation
- Must be able to pass a stringent fingerprint background check, required for employment in a licensed childcare setting
