Do you love working with young children and leading a classroom? Are you ready to be part of something innovative that supports working families and educators? Chambliss Center for Children is looking for a Lead Teacher to guide one of our unique Micro-Centers—a small, high-quality early childhood classroom located right inside a school setting. This role is a great fit for an experienced early childhood professional who enjoys both teaching and leading a team, and wants to be part of a creative, community-based solution to child care.
 
What is a Micro-Center?
Our Micro-Centers are single-classroom, fully licensed child care programs located within schools and community spaces. They are designed to make child care more accessible for working families—especially educators. In this role, you’ll support the staff at the host school who have young children.  

Available Locations:
  • Montessori Elementary at Highland Park, 700 S. Hawthorne Street, Chattanooga, TN
    • Monday - Friday, 7:15 am - 4:15 pm
  • East Brainerd Elementary, 7660 Goodwin Road, Chattanooga, TN
    • Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm
Pay: $16–$20+/hour (based on education and experience)
Positions will start mid-July and only work during the school year
 
What You’ll Do
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children ages 0–5
  • Plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities
  • Support children’s social, emotional, and physical growth
  • Supervise and support teachers and assistants
  • Help with scheduling and daily staffing needs
  • Model strong teaching practices and positive interactions
  • Maintain licensing standards and high-quality program practices
  • Keep accurate records and manage enrollment using ProCare
  • Communicate with families and build strong relationships
  • Monitor health, safety, and overall well-being of children
What We’re Looking For
  • 21+ years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in early childhood education
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with child care licensing standards
Skills That Matter
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable using basic technology (email, Microsoft Office, web-based systems)
  • Able to problem-solve and make sound decisions
  • Flexible, dependable, and team-oriented
  • Passion for working with children and families from diverse backgrounds
Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Active and engaged throughout the day (sitting, standing, playing, moving with children)
