Description

Do you enjoy fixing problems, working with your hands, and making a visible impact every day? Chambliss Center for Children is looking for a reliable, skilled Maintenance Technician to help keep our facilities safe, functional, and welcoming for the children, families, and communities we serve. Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Technician helps maintain and repair agency buildings, grounds, and equipment across multiple locations in the Chattanooga area. 

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Primarily Monday–Friday daytime hours with occasional evenings or weekends for emergencies or urgent repairs
  • Full-time or part-time opportunities available
  • Pay is $15-$21 per hour depending on skill and experience

Responsibilities include:
  • Complete maintenance work orders and preventative maintenance tasks 
  • Perform general repairs including plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC support 
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance and safety issues 
  • Assist with moving, installing, or repairing furniture, fixtures, and equipment 
  • Maintain tools, supplies, and work areas in a safe and organized manner 
  • Pick up or deliver supplies, donated items, or equipment as needed 
  • Support overall facility operations and respond to urgent repair needs when necessary 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • At least 2 years of general building maintenance experience 
  • Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repairs 
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record 
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools 
  • Ability to read and write in English 
  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check required for working around children 

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders throughout the workday 
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds 
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions 
  • Travel extensively between multiple local agency locations within the Chattanooga area
