Under the direction of the Director of Development, the Development Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the organization through managing the donor database, maintaining mailing lists, proofreading documents, and assisting in the preparation and organization of development events. Location: In office at our Main Campus, 315 Gillespie Road, Chattanooga TN 37411
Schedule: Part time with an expectation of 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
Pay: $15.00 per hour

Requirements:
- Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in office administration, data entry, or development. Prior nonprofit work experience a plus.
- Prior database management or donation software experience preferred; knowledge/experience with DonorSnap is a plus.
- Exceptional skills in the areas of organization, attention to detail, time management, problem solving, ability to manage multiple tasks, and ability to define & set priorities.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent reading, writing and grammar skills; both written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated team player with a strong collaboration ability.
- Capability to work independently as needed.
- Discretion and confidentiality with respect to donor records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the donor management database by:
- Adding new constituent contact information into the donor management database;
- Entering donations and gifts into the database, including pledges, checks, cash, online credit card gifts, in-kind gifts, and matching gifts;
- Ensuring data integrity through accurate data entry and ongoing clean-up efforts;
- Managing updates to the database by updating contact information as needed and reconciling the database with information provided by the USPS’s National Change of Address data; and
- Generating reports and contribution statements as needed.
- Maintain mailing lists for various development events and programs.
- Create lists of all honorarium and memorial donations for quarterly newsletters.
- Proofread and edit correspondence, documents, spreadsheets, and reports as needed.
- Generate and mail standard form gift acknowledgments.
- Maintain a comprehensive filing system to ensure quick and accurate retrieval of donation records.
- Assisting development staff with event set up and execution; this may include activities such as decorating, arranging tables and chairs, preparing development materials, setting up equipment, working registration tables, etc.
- Other work-related duties as assigned by the Director Development or Vice President, Operations.
- The position requires the ability to sit for prolonged periods and perform repetitive tasks, such as typing and data entry.
- Occasional standing, walking, and light lifting (up to 20 pounds) may be required for tasks such as event setup and other related activities.
- The ability to move freely throughout the office, including bending, reaching, and crouching, may be necessary.
