Help Little Ones Feel Safe, Loved, and Ready to Grow

At Newton Child Development Center, we believe the earliest months of life matter deeply. We are looking for a kind, patient, and dependable Infant Teacher who will care for our youngest children with warmth, attention, and genuine compassion.

In this role, you’ll support babies ages 6 weeks to 14 months by creating a calm, loving environment where they feel secure and valued. Every cuddle, song, and smile helps build the foundation for a child’s growth—and that’s the heart of this position.

Position Information

Location: Newton Child Development Center, 1301 Grove Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Starting Pay: $13.00/hour (high school diploma, limited experience); $15.00/hour (CDA credential). Higher rates based on education and experience

What You’ll Do

• Provide gentle, attentive care to infants throughout the day
• Feed, diaper, soothe, and comfort babies with patience and care
• Follow a consistent daily rhythm of naps, play, and quiet moments
• Talk, sing, read, and interact in ways that support early development
• Create a clean, peaceful, and safe classroom environment
• Keep track of each child’s daily needs and routines
• Build trusting relationships with families through daily communication

What We’re Looking For

• Someone who truly enjoys caring for infants and being part of their early growth
• At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED
• Able to pass a fingerprint background check
• Reliable and committed to being present for children and your team
• Comfortable working in a group care setting
• Experience with infants is helpful, but a caring heart matters most

Physical Demands

• Lift and carry children up to 30 pounds
• Bend, kneel, and sit on the floor regularly
• Stay active and engaged throughout the day
• Safely lift infants in and out of cribs
